Meet the People Behind MIICOE!
Toni R. Young-Huber, RN, BSN- President/CEO Ms. Huber is a 30 year veteran in Nursing, who has worked in small and large hospitals, primarily in the area of surgery as a First Assistant. She worked independently, managing her own office as a First Assistant, managing the day-to-day operations. Ms. Huber is certified in Advanced Burn Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, with a very active and ongoing practice. One of Ms. Huber's strengths is her ability to call on a nationwide network of Health Care professionals and attorneys. She has the ability to understand a wide range of business profiles, practices and markets. Her accomplishments demonstrate superior strengths and skills in the developing and managing of successful business ventures, as well as locating and developing untapped market niches in numerous and diverse industries. She is experienced in partnering with recognized industry-leading professionals and companies to add scope, strength and awareness to both partner companies in win-win situations. Ms. Huber recognizes the frustrations in dealing with little or no medical history in emergencies. She has witnessed first-hand that often an injured person is unable to give pertinent information regarding their medical information due to severity of injuries. All health care providers are aware that rapid treatment saves lives. By providing the information that is individualized to a person's medical history lives can be saved, as well as time and health care dollars. This also ensures that the treatment provided is tailored to the individual. Usually in an emergency one's primary care physician is far away or unavailable. Ms. Huber knows having an accessible electronic medical record would be like bringing your doctor's office with you no matter where you are, or your doctor. By providing an Electronic Medical Record that can be accessed at any time for the member to delete information that is no longer valid or to add information regarding his latest treatment or medication changes, treating professionals will provide needed care with much improved outcomes. Ms. Huber has worked long and hard to make MIICOE a reality. Her drive and compassion are unbelievably strong. Her commitment to helping others is immense. Johnny Askins, RN, BSN-Vice-President Johnny has been a nurse for 28 years, with a varied and extensive range of experience. He has worked both in and out of the hospital in many areas of nursing, from surgical supply sales to home health and hospice. He has also served as a staff nurse in intensive care, and emergency rooms as well as a charge nurse and as director of nursing in varied settings. Mr. Askins is certified in Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS), Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course ( ENPC) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). He is also a certified legal nurse consultant with a five year practice that has strengthened his ability to deal with both medical and legal issues as a private consultant. His strengths are many, from being able to articulate and solve problems to being a champion for quality of care in all situations. He has seen the problems inherent in quality of care and, as part of the MIICOE team, offers a clear and resonant voice in the direction this company will take in the future. Johnny immediately recognized the importance of a system that would enable individuals to take charge of their medical information and that would make it easily accessible, and most of all, portable. He brings great drive and excitement to this endeavor. Mr. Askins's goals are to empower the public and to educate health care professionals to the availability of a system that offers the best of two worlds, wherein rapid and necessary care is administered with both speed and accuracy. Those two worlds can blend to make the public participants in their own care and medical professionals able to access pertinent information at the time when it is most vital. He is untiring in his mission to make health care more accessible and friendlier for everyone who needs it and, in the process, save time, dollars and lives. Charles Hamlin, M.D., Chief Medical Consultant Dr. Hamlin has been involved in the private practice of traumatic and reconstructive surgery of the hand since 1976. He also serves as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery (Hand) for the University of Colorado School of Health Sciences in Denver, Colorado. He received his pre-medical BA from Yale in 1961, his BMS from Dartmouth in 1965, and his MD from Columbia in 1967. He served his General Surgical Internship and Residency at Roosevelt Hospital, New York, New York from 1967 to 1969 and Orthopaedic Residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, Cornell Medical Center, New York, New York from 1969 to 1972, followed by Hand Surgical Fellowship with J. William Littler, M.D. at Roosevelt Hospital in 1973. He served in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps from 1974 to 1976, acheiving the rank of Major. Dr. Hamlin's Scholarly Society past and present memberships/fellowships include:
He is the recipient of a Humanitarian Award from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and has prepared and presented educational materials in many teaching assignments in Colorado and for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Hamlin's knowledge, dedication, and clear concern for the welfare of others make him an invaluable addition to the MIICOE staff and we are honored to include him here. Ken Lewis, Director of Consumer Marketing Ken Lewis is a nationally-known lecturer and seminar leader. Also known as Mr. Done Right, Ken brings humor and intensity to his lectures on survival, teaching everything from safety in the city to survival under adverse conditions. He has taught thousands to use the skills he learned during his military service, calling his technique for using materials on hand, "In Plain View". Many-faceted and gentle are only two descriptives for Ken. His calm, knowing manner and humor help people to see their surroundings and use what is at hand to survive and, indeed, thrive in conditions beyond their control. On radio and in his seminars, he has long advocated a "good to go kit" that he recommends everyone keep in their homes and cars at all times. He says, "When the concept of MIICOE was explained to me, I knew immediately that it was the completion of the "good to go kit". We all take great care to maintain our vehicles, to watch and protect our children and to be prepared in adversity. But we don't often think about necessary information should the need for medical treatment arrive. With the MIICOE card available and on one's person, all the blanks are filled in, saving lives. What follows, then, is faster and more comprehensive treatment that saves time and money along with giving the best of care. It's time for MIICOE, from the cradle to the grave." Mr. Lewis has embraced the global possibilities for the use of MIICOE and is an outspoken advocate for individuals to take ownership of their own medical health history. His mission is to educate and empower individuals to learn more about themselves and take care of themselves and their families. |
